Privacy Policy

GigGeist ("we", "us") is a gig-management tool for working bands — scheduling, line-ups, setlists, and the financial side of playing shows. This policy explains what we collect through the app, why, and what your choices are. It applies to everyone who uses GigGeist, whether through a web browser or the Android app.

What we collect

Account and profile. Your name, email address, and password (or, if you choose to sign in with Google, the basic profile Google shares for that).

Musician profile. Anything you choose to add to your own profile — phone number, home address, and instruments/skills. Your home address is used only to estimate travel distance and fuel cost for a gig you're playing; we send it to our geocoding provider (Geoapify) to convert it into a location, and store the resulting coordinates alongside the address you entered.

Band and gig data. Whatever a band owner or member enters to run their band on GigGeist — gigs, venues, line-ups, setlists, messages between bandmates, and financial details for a gig (fees, costs, deposits, payment status) that an owner chooses to record.

Notifications. If you turn on push notifications, your browser or device gives us a subscription endpoint so we can deliver them — we don't see or store anything beyond what's needed to send that notification.

Technical data. Standard web request data (IP address, browser type, timestamps) generated automatically when you use the app, mainly for security and diagnosing problems.

How we use it

To run the features you're actually using: showing your gigs and line-ups, sending gig-related emails (verification, password resets, invitations) and notifications, calculating mileage/fuel estimates from a home address you've provided, and keeping your band's financial records for the owner who's tracking them. We don't use your data to build an advertising profile, and we don't sell it.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers GigGeist genuinely runs on, each processing data solely to provide their part of the service:

Other members of a band you belong to can see the band/gig data relevant to running that band (line-ups, setlists, financial details an owner has entered) — that's the whole point of the app being shared between bandmates. We never share your data with anyone outside GigGeist for marketing or resale.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward in case you come back or we need to resolve a dispute. You can delete your account and its personal data yourself at any time, from Account in the app — it takes effect immediately and can't be undone. How account deletion works explains exactly what's erased, what your band keeps, and what we retain afterwards (encrypted backups and security logs, both for up to 30 days).

Your choices

You can review and correct most of what we hold on you directly in the app — your musician profile (including removing your address at any time), notification settings, and anything you've entered for a band you belong to. You can also delete your account outright, yourself, without asking us. For anything else, including a full export of your data, contact us and we'll help.

Children

GigGeist is intended for musicians running or playing in a band, and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing, never in plain text. Connections to GigGeist are encrypted in transit (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, standard precautions to protect what you share with us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use GigGeist after a change means you accept the updated policy.
